Denver Film Society Oscar®
Party – Sunday, February 22 – Starz
Film Center – Denver – 5pm –
10:30pm, $20* - $45 (includes food and 2 drink
tickets)
There’s no denying that there are a slew
of good flicks running on the big screen these
days. Have you seen them all? Probably not.
Sure, it’s hard to find time to get to
the theaters these days, vying instead for Netflix
or the 15” computer screen. But now you
really have a reason to get out of the house AND
in a film fashion way.
For the 18th year in a row, the Denver
Film Society is the official host of The Oscar®
viewing party taking place on the center’s
high definition big screens.
Without the need to rent a limo (*in fact, if
you ride your bike you get the $20 travel green
ticket price) or deal with a CIA looking guy with
a clipboard and a guestlist, the party is still
goin’ Hollywood. Break out your best Rodeo
Drive meets Silverlake look for THE night, which
will include a live band, DJ, pinball and Rock
Band® on the big screens.
Entry includes all these goodies plus food and
two drink tickets. DFS Members are $40, GA is
$45, and as mentioned, green travelers pay only
$20 if they ride a bike to the event. If you do,
you might want to put those Manolos in your backpack.
They tend to get stuck in the pedals. And last
but not least, proceeds go to supporting our cultural
gem, the Denver Film Society.
Prized you can win at the party:
• Red-carpet ticket packages (5 of them!)
to the 2009 Starz Denver Film Festival, which
all include overnight accommodations at some of
Denver's top hotels
• Tickets for other film festivals: Aspen
ShortsFest, Los Angeles Film Festival, and CineVegas
Film Festival

at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

If you plan on gawking at the stars walking the
red carpet in your jimmies and in the comfort
of your couch, but still want to play in the game,
you don’t need to be total getto. Oscar.com
have been kind enough to create a nicely
laid out Oscar ballot for your printing pleasure.
If paper and pen is so 1996, you can go online
and play the Oscar’s Live Challenge - www.oscar.com/play.
Part of the game includes the ability to view
rare clips and videos of Oscars of years gone
by. I wonder if they’ve included the clip
of the streaker who ran naked across the stage
one year as David Niven was at the podium. In
my opinion, it is truly one of the great moments
in Oscar history and one of the best comeback
lines I’ve ever seen - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2lll3zSYL8k.
And if any of you are still on AOL (like Ms.
Rix), you can jump on your Commodore 64, fire
up your dial up modem and login to download their
Oscar widget for bloggers. I would get started
now, and by Sunday, you should be all set.
