A bold and solid sophomore release from New Jersey’s Armor For Sleep, What To Do When You Are Dead packs a mean punch in pop-punk’s stoney mug with a killer concept album. The title pretty much says it all: an ongoing reflection of regret and disappointment in the afterlife. Make no mistake, though, this is wall-to-wall impassioned metallic ballads, with enough vocal ferocity to scare crap out of a den of lions.

 

Produced by Machine (Clutch, White Zombie), What To Do… is rife with surprise punches and guitars that lead straight into Iron Maiden’s practice pad.

Are we feeling greedy? Fine. As a bonus, the disc is accompanied by a bizarrely hilarious pamphlet (also titled “What To Do When You Are Dead”) with brief, illustrated tips for your journey through death; for instance: “Do not attempt to stand up until you are positive that you are dead. (Try passing your hand through your face to determine if you are.)”

Brilliant.
