What we have here is yet another lo-fi indie rock record made by young guys simply doing what they love to do. While they do manage to utilize some spiffed up keyboards and samples with fuzzy guitars, I find their true talent shines towards the end of the record.
I skip ahead to “Pogos Abentever” because it has a cool name and it turns out that this and “M Bison” both embrace Nintendo math rock awesomeness, with high speed video game enthusiasm and electro-radical melody lines. The press release instructs me to listen to “I Am the Teacher,” and to tell them that I can’t stop dancing. Well, I can’t really do that because I never started dancing to begin with!
While I still can’t figure out why a bunch of Canadians named themselves after Deutschland, I suppose it doesn’t really matter because they released a record anyways. If you’re into Pavement, Built to Spill, etc. check these guys out, because they are so hot right now.
