Dan Croll – Sweet Disarray U.S. Tour

Last year “From Nowhere” from Dan Croll seemed to come out of nowhere as an essential track in your summer of 2013 soundtrack, shaking to and fro with a lighthearted chorus and samba percussion that drove the desire for a frothy blender drink, complete with the umbrella, thank you very much; of sorts, a follow on to Metronomy’s “English Riviera” from the summer before.

I had the delight and pleasure of catching his lively set at The Great Escape festival in Brighton last spring, complete with his full band that took his indie rock gems, including “Compliment Your Soul” and “Home,” sprinkling all those glorious notes and riffs over the ears of the audience.

Now in 2014, Croll debuts with Sweet Disarray, which includes those previous singles and new material that bend in a different light, from the driving urgency of “Must Be Leaving” to the title track, a stripped-down song that highlights the beauty of his voice, with just a simple guitar line and background vocals to make it this year’s breezy summer track for 2014.

The Staffordshire / Liverpool lad and award-winning songwriter hit up SXSW last month and is currently touring the U.S., coming to Denver’s Larimer Lounge Thursday, April 10, and will continue to travel through the states until the end of June, where he and his band then jumps on the festival circuit in the U.K. and Europe.
