Riot Fest 2016 News: Jane’s Addition, Hold Steady, Sleater-Kinney

The cat’s out of the festival bag. This morning before the eggs were ready off the skillet, Riot Fest got out their line up news following yesterday’s cryptic teaser videos (“Been Caught Stealin” was one hint). Jane’s Addiction fans should be happy to hear the band will perform the classic album, Ritual de lo Habitual, in its entirety, and the Hold Steady will break out the beloved tracks from Boys and Girls in America, with with Franz Nicolay no less, for the Denver (September 2 – 4) and Chicago (September 16 – 18) girls and boys.

Each festival year is one of “Hey, let’s get the band back together” reunions, and 2016 is showing to be no different. Along with the previously announced Misfits reassemble, bands Thursday and Wolf Parade, are also getting back together in the practice studio.

Sleater-Kinney will shred. Death Cab For Cutie will cause couples to cuddle. Deftones will get the crowd in a tizzy.  Bleached will perform their Snapchat antics in person. Juliette Lewis & The Licks will do her rendition of an ancient indian rain dance while the buddies from the Descendents, Bad Religion and Lagwagon have their own little reminisce reunion backstage. No word yet if Dan Deacon will do the crowdsourced riot or not, but considering the theme of the festival, that could be in the mix.

Morrissey, the artist with the highest no-show insurance of the line up (just a guess) will not be making it to Denver but is set to play Chicago. The windy city is also going to enjoy Social Distortion performing, White Light, White Heat, White Trash on its 20th anniversary (highly recommend checking out his “Pursuit of Tone” documentary if you have DirecTV), along with NAS, Method Man and Redman, Bob Mould, The Hives, Dee Snider, Andrew W.K., Joey Bada$$, GWAR, and another no-show-pro, Rob Zombie performing White Zombie’s Astro-Creep: 2000.

No word yet on what the Riot Fest kids will come up with next to tease us into the next set of line up announcements, but to get the full scoop and tickets visit the Riot Fest website.
