To quote Reagan, "Well..." things sure have
improved in the mountain since last week and it sounds
like we're in for more of the white stuff. Crested Butte
is rockin' with a 58" base and 7" in the last
two days. Over at Copper, is up with 32" base with
a 2" new snow in the last 48 hours, Breck is at 31",
Beavercreek's at 28", Keystone has a base of 33".
Wolf Creek is of course, the one with the biggest base
overall with 106", but Winter Park isn't too shabby
with 40". Most all of the resorts are also reporting
either powder or packed powder conditions, so if you're
already up at the mountains, I suggest you start your
holidays early.
Aspen
Snowmass
Earlier this year in January Aspen Mountain celebrated
its 60th Birthday, and this month the younger sister
Aspen Snowmass turns the big 4-0.
While the flower children were celebrating the summer
of love, Colorado waited until the air turned cold to
celebrate the winter, opening Snowmass-at-Aspen in 1967.
Part of their festivities include the premier of a new
Snowmass documentary, along with a meet-and-greet cocktail
party where those who were there in the day reminisce
about what Aspen was like back then.
